Walmart has expanded its third-party digital marketplace with the launch of its Premium Musical Instrument Shop, marking the first phase of a larger effort to grow its professional music gear offerings. The curated storefront features products for musicians at all skill levels, including amplifiers, pedals, drum accessories, and more.
Walmart Marketplace Music Gear Expansion
The new marketplace features well-known music brands such as Fender, Roland, Boss, Squier, and Zildjian. Walmart is positioning this digital storefront to compete with established music retailers like Guitar Center and Sweetwater, both of which have dominated the market for years.
“We’re thrilled to bring some of the world’s most legendary music brands to Walmart Marketplace,” said Manish Joneja, senior vice president for Walmart Marketplace and Walmart Fulfillment Services. “This launch represents a major milestone in expanding our Marketplace into premium categories delivering both high quality and value.”
Walmart’s Marketplace Growth
Walmart’s U.S. sector saw e-commerce grow 28% during its third quarter, with its marketplace reporting a 17% sales increase. The company’s marketplace has long been a tool for expanding its merchandise range, and this new musical instrument category is part of that ongoing growth.
“This broader assortment allows us to cater to a wider set of customers,” said John Rainey, Executive Vice President and CFO. The marketplace’s success in categories like automotive, toys, electronics, apparel, and now music gear shows that customers are responding well to the expanded selection.
More Partnerships and Expanding Assortments
In October 2025, Walmart added another significant partnership with collectibles company Stadium Goods, offering footwear from brands like Nike and Jordan. This expansion into collectibles and premium beauty through third-party sellers is part of Walmart’s larger strategy to offer more diverse products through its marketplace.
