Kohl’s has introduced a new private label brand called Sea and Skye, aimed at teen and tween girls. This launch is part of the retailer’s broader strategy to expand its spring merchandising assortment. The Sea and Skye collection, available at all Kohl’s locations this month, includes casual pieces such as basics, fleece, graphic T-shirts, and more formal styles for special occasions.
Kohl’s Expands Fashion Range with Sea and Skye
The Sea and Skye brand reflects Kohl’s commitment to expanding its private label offerings, which executives believe are key to the company’s turnaround strategy. The brand targets younger customers with a mix of casual and dressier options, hoping to cater to both everyday wear and more refined occasions.
Part of Kohl’s Spring Merchandising Push
This launch is part of Kohl’s larger spring merchandising effort, which also includes an expansion of its five-year-old FLX athleisure brand into golf apparel. Additionally, Kohl’s is increasing its big-and-tall sizes in both FLX and the Haggar dresswear brand, making them available at every location.
Kohl’s is also enhancing its Sephora collection with new brands like Dermalogica and Beauty of Joseon. Furthermore, the retailer is reintroducing Babies R Us-branded fixtures, featuring popular baby brands such as Fisher-Price and Baby Einstein.
Kohl’s Turnaround Strategy
In its recent quarter, Kohl’s reported a 3% decline in net sales, totaling $3.4 billion, with comparable sales falling 1.7%. Despite these challenges, the retailer continues its turnaround efforts under CEO Michael Bender, who was appointed permanently in November.
