6 New Malls Coming to Dubai by 2028

Dubai’s skyline keeps growing—and so does its shopping scene. In fact, the emirate is unveiling a wave of new malls in Dubai that blend luxury, nature, and innovation. Moreover, these developments promise more than retail—they offer full lifestyle experiences. At the same time, two of Dubai’s most iconic malls are undergoing major transformations. Here’s what to expect in the coming years.

First and foremost, Dubai Square stands out as the most ambitious project yet. Developed by Emaar as part of Dubai Creek Harbour, it will span 2.6 million square metres—three times the size of Downtown Dubai. Designed as an “indoor city,” it will even allow electric cars to drive through its corridors. Additionally, it will link directly to the upcoming Dubai Creek Tower. Slated to open in 2028, it will feature revolutionary retail, dining, and entertainment powered by cutting-edge technology.

Next, Ghaf Woods Mall redefines eco-conscious retail. Launched in October 2025 by Majid Al Futtaim, it will become the company’s 30th mall—and the region’s first forest-integrated shopping destination. Nestled within a Dhs15.4 billion green community, it will be surrounded by over 30,000 trees. As a result, shoppers can enjoy curated retail, leisure, and dining—all immersed in nature and enhanced by smart tech.

Meanwhile, Sobha Mall is rising in the Sobha Hartland community. This Dhs210 million luxury project, set for completion in late 2026, will house 35 retail and food outlets. It will also include a supermarket, gym, play zones, and more than 10 new restaurants. Clearly, it’s designed as a cultural and culinary hub for both residents and visitors.

In another part of the city, Liwan Mall will open in Wadi Al Safa 2 during the second half of 2026. Developed by KeyMavens Group, this luxury destination will feature Spanish-inspired architecture, green spaces, a pool, high-end boutiques, and stylish cafés. All of this will unfold across 113,674 square feet.

Not far from there, Villa Square will serve the Wadi Al Safa 5 community by Q3 2026. Also developed by KeyMavens, this 124,000-square-foot mall emphasizes natural light and indoor-outdoor flow. Families will be able to enjoy wellness zones, landscaped areas, and diverse dining in a modern, welcoming setting.

Further expanding the map, South Bay Mall will anchor Dubai South’s new urban hub. Spanning 200,000 square feet across three levels, it will offer lagoon views and open-air walkways. It will also feature 60 retail units, a premium food hall, and lifestyle amenities like a spa, clinic, and clubhouse. Given its location, it’s poised to become a hotspot for residents and tourists alike.

But the excitement doesn’t stop with new builds. On the contrary, existing icons are also evolving. For instance, Dubai Mall is undergoing a Dhs1.5 billion expansion. This will add 240 luxury retail and dining outlets. Already, “The District”—a 65-outlet zone near the Ice Rink—has opened. Moreover, a new exhibition centre will accept event bookings starting early 2026.

Similarly, Mall of the Emirates is getting a Dhs5 billion transformation. Announced in April 2025, the revamp will introduce 100 new stores—including Primark, Ulta Beauty, and Skims. At the heart of the new precinct will be the mall’s first-ever outdoor dining courtyard. Covered in greenery, this lush garden will operate during winter months, offering a serene al fresco experience.

Together, these projects reflect Dubai’s forward-looking vision. Whether you seek high-tech convenience, natural serenity, or luxury indulgence, the new malls in Dubai are being built to exceed expectations. As a result, shopping is no longer just about buying—it’s about living, connecting, and experiencing.

Looking ahead, as the city prepares for 2026–2028, one truth becomes clear: Dubai isn’t just following global trends. Rather, it’s setting them.
